We dance to worship, and the tuition goes to missionaries
Great Commission Studios was founded as a non-profit dance studio. We train dancers in technical excellence while supporting global mission efforts and spreading the Gospel across our community and beyond.
Our studios are a place where Christ-centered dance education matters to families. We hold a high standard of dance education for all levels and genres, from ballet and pointe to tap, lyrical, modern and acro. The full list lives on our classes page.
Founded 2018, open since 2021
How we began
The genesis of Great Commission Studios came from the founder’s discovery of God’s love of dance as a form of worship, as illustrated in scripture. She describes it as divine disclosures from God of His plan to use worship through dance to reach the nations for Christ.
- 2018
- Great Commission Studios is formed as a Michigan non-profit.
- 2021
- The organization is recognized as a 501(c)(3), and the studio opens its doors to the public to serve the greater Lansing population.
- 2026-27
- The studio enters its 5th Anniversary Season, with classes in Haslett, Okemos and Grand Ledge.
As a Michigan non-profit (2018) and a 501(c)(3) organization (2021), Great Commission Studios opened the dance studio to the public in 2021 to serve the greater Lansing population. Summer Thomas-Reed, driven by her love of Jesus and dance, walked by faith and opened the doors that year. The legal name of the organization is Great Commission Studios Corp.
We invite everyone who wants to participate in worshipping our King and spreading the Gospel. New students can ask our team about a free trial class, and you can see the season’s dates on the studio calendar.
Our biblical foundation
Worship Jesus and fund missions globally.
The Great Commission
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”
Matthew 28:19-20
Our mission
Knowing the Father’s heart is to share the Gospel with all nations, Great Commission Studios aims to support missionaries around the world, with a special focus on the 3,000 unreached people groups of the world.
We exist to glorify God through dance.
Our vision verse
Our vision verse is Psalm 149:3. Praising His name in the dance is not a slogan for us. It is why the studio exists.
The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Let’s give “the few” the tools they need to get the job done and help finish the task of reaching the whole world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Ministries supported this year
Your tuition goes to 3 Lansing-area missionaries who are faithfully ministering the Gospel to the nations: Bram Nguyen, and Scott and Ruth Thompson. By the faithfulness of God, any profit our studios earn goes to them first. Thank you for helping us grow.
